Associate
Meagan Martin is a litigator with substantial experience. Ms. Martin's practice focuses on commercial and bankruptcy litigation. Ms. Martin has litigated a variety of disputes in state, federal and bankruptcy courts throughout the country, including those involving shareholder class actions, corporate governance issues, trade secrets, covenants not to compete, breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and commercial bankruptcy-related matters. She has experience in litigating disputes in a variety of forums, including arbitration and mediation. Ms. Martin also has extensive experience in planning and executing corporate internal investigations.
Before attending Harvard Law School, Ms. Martin contemplated a career in public accounting. She passed the Texas Certified Public Accounting exam on her first attempt in 2001 and worked in the international tax group at Arthur Andersen.
Ms. Martin's accounting, finance and Sarbanes-Oxley experience gives her clients a strong advantage in commercial litigation and bankruptcy actions.
Representative Experience
- Represented twenty-six debtors in all aspects of complex Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings
- Represented debtors in multiple adversary proceedings against more than sixty counterparties alleging statutory lien and trust claims
- Represented multinational company in obtaining dismissal of breach of contract and fraud action on forum non convenient grounds
- Represented several boards of directors in proposed class action lawsuits alleging breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and violations of federal securities laws
- Represented company and newly-hired employees in defending against covenant not to compete and alleged trade secret misappropriation claims filed in multiple federal courts
- Represented company in commercial litigation involving breach of contract and breach of security agreement
- Represented employer in age discrimination action
